This year's fair theme will be Stars, Stripes and Fair Delights. I made this for this year's fair theme. It is also one of the new releases for Cute As A Button. You can get it now, and anything else for 40% off using the code BACKTOSCHOOL40 until this Saturday...so HURRY!
For this card I added a current fair map, some flowers, ribbon, twine, gems, star gems and a horse charm/bead.
The challenge this fortnight at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge is "No Words". We are being sponsored by Small And Round. This image is called "Flutter". I colored the image using chalk and ink. I added some Glossy Accents and Stickles. I added a flower, a bow, sequins and leaves. I kept this pretty CAS. I used the color theme from this week's C.R.A.F.T
While hopping around checking out blogs for some inspiration I stopped at 613 Avenue Create and came across this fun little idea of a trinket box made from a Pringles Can...something I just so happened to have. Then I decided I wanted to make this using the "go green" theme using all recycled items on it. I may have fibbed the theme just a bit with the bow and the lace...but it was scrap ribbon and scrap lace I had laying around. My daughter started using her old jeans to make doll clothing and this was from a pair she had already started to cut up. I used part of the leg and a pocket and the button from the front of the jeans. I added string pearls, and beads from an old broken necklace (for the feet). This was so fun to make!! The tutorial on how to make this can be found here.
I've been working on getting ready for the State Fair, A few years ago my daughter and I started entering some of our crafts into the fair, it's now become sort of an addiction! LOL I decided to do another altered book project, problem is, I had no clue what I wanted to do. I could remember my mom taking old magazines or maybe it was phone books and making angels from them...So, I started with that idea. I grabbed two Sports Illustrated Magazines that my boyfriend hasn't even looked at...(he never really does, he is usually too busy watching sports on TV to read about them in some magazine! LOL). Pretty soon I was going nuts gluing things to this. I had some larger flowers I got from Wild Orchid Crafts that are just a tad bit too big for card projects, a spool of string pearls, and a ton of other items I had laying around in my craft room, a lot of which came from a co-worker. After I got everything all glued on I went to pick it up, not even thinking it would be flimsy...well duh, it is paper! So after some self deliberation, I decided to make a trip down to the Idaho Youth Ranch (a second hand store) to see if I could find some kind of plate or platter to put it onto. I found this nice heavy pie/cake platter. It has an internal crack inside the glass near the edge so I talked them down on it and only paid a dollar... (Normally I don't barter at a second hand store, but this was broken and I wasn't sure it would work. LOL) After gluing my project to the platter I thought it looked sort of boring...well, the thing itself wasn't, it was crazy busy! haha... I decided to add a few flowers, some gems and some string pearls all around it. I decided to share this 'thing' on Facebook and some friends told me it was a pretty "Birdhouse", so, I'm going with it! Yep, this here thing is a "bird house"! haha I hope the judges at the fair like it!
This month's theme over at Cute As A Button is "Back To School". I used the image called "School Books". I added her to a "page" DP, colored her with pencil and ink, added some fun DPs for the banners and some gems because...I love bling! LOL I think this could work as even more than just back to school. :)
Have I ever mentioned I really do not like making Christmas cards? I like it even less during the summer...What's worse is when you walk into a JCPenny and they are playing Christmas music in July and that makes you want to make a Christmas card! haha Yes, that is what happened yesterday... No joke! Crazy! But here is a Christmas card!
For this card I used flowers, snowflake punches, gems, stickles, a sentiment from Create With TLC and an image from Fred She Said. I chose not to make it just regular square, so I used some fun shaped cookie cutter dies.
The Newest challenge over at Crafting With Dragonflies is "Baby Card". I used a sweet image from The Paper Shelter called Sleepyhead Moon. I made this so it would work for a boy or a girl, or twins. I added two rocking horse dies, some flowers, cheese cloth, gems, ribbon and fun DP.
This Fortnight over at Incy Wincy Design Challenges we are being sponsored by Cute As A Button. The challenge theme is 1 Paper Layer Only. I used the image called Belly Dancer. added more than one layer, but only one was paper. One layer was glitter tulle. I added gems, string beads and flowers too. I colored the belly dancer with pencil and ink then topped her off with some Stickles.
This is the new freebie for the Limited Runs Progressive Challenge. This cute owl. Because it is for Limited Runs I decided to use a couple other Limited Runs images I have already. So, this card has three different images from Limited Runs. I turned the owls and the cake into balloons.
This week over at Crafting With Dragonflies the challenge theme is Vintage/Shabby Chic. So for this challenge I decided I wanted to play with some of my new dies I got from Wish.com...ohhh how dangerously addictive that site it!! The only new die set is the flower die, I cut out a lot of pink flowers, bent and played with them a bit then glued some beads in the center. I already had the dragonfly and leaf dies. To give this that 'shabby chic' look I used a paint brush and some paint and dabbed it onto the edges of the flowers, leaves and DPs. I did rough up the edges of the papers too. I added some heart pins, pearls, lace and made a burlap string bow, the burlap string can be found here.
Limited Runs is having another progressive challenge, the image this time is just too funny! He is a "Smiling Monster". One of my favorite things about digital images is that you can make them any size you want, you can crop certain parts as you wish and once the image is colored, if you have a scanner you can scan it in and then play with the color. That is what I did here...all of the above! First I printed the plain image, then I colored it and scanned it into the computer. Then I laid it out how I wanted the monsters to be. For the bigger one I changed it to a more red hue, for the green one I changed it to the greener hue. The blue monster is the same as what I colored. I added some Glossy Accents to the eyes and lips and some Stickles to the antanea. I cropped out one of the balls from the blue monster and used it in place of gems. I added some twine and punched some orange paper for the bottom. Here is what I came up with...
Thanks for looking!

This fortnight over at Incy Wincy Designs the challenge theme is Friends Forever. We have two sponsors for this challenge. Our sponsors are Bugaboo Stamps and Oddball Art. For this challenge I used a fun image from Oddball Art called Norah's Dance w/Cooper and Cruz.. I colored this image using gel pen, pencil and ink. I also added some Stickles. For my card I stuck with the musical theme. I added some two sided paper from a DCWV paper pack called Preserved Paper. I used two different musical dies, the birthday one and the musical notes themselves. I also used a butterfly punch and some round scalloped dies. I added some ribbon and lace plus some flowers and pink pearls. Even the leaves were made using a leaf die that I added some texture to using a pair of needle nosed pliers.
For this card I used an image from Bugaboo called Friends Don't Let Friends Wine Alone. I colored this image using ink, pencil, chalk, and gel pen. I covered the glasses and bottle with Glossy Accents. I added some fun stickers and some twine. I kept this all pretty simple.
Today seems to be a totally dull day, I feel dull and just flat out haven't felt like doing much of anything. So, I just sat down to make a card. I decided to follow the sketch from Swet Sketch Wednesday. I used some fun sunflowers, sunflower paper, gems, an edge punch, some lace, and some dies.
This month's challenge theme over at Cute As A Button is "Summer Fun". I used Dolphin Mermaid to make this fun card. I turned this into a new baby card because the dolphin looks like it's a new baby. I added a fun ocean background, a bow and some hand drawn stitching. The image was colored with chalks and inks.
It's time for a new challenge over at the Crafting With Dragonflies Challenge Blog. The challenge theme is "Punches or Dies". So, I used one punch and the rest of my card was done with dies (not counting the gems and pearls. I've been way over shopping at Wish.Com finding so many awesome dies for super duper great prices!! The windows, cat, and flower planter were all from one set. The bow (it came in three sizes) was in another set, and the flower (four different sizes) came in another set. I already had the words and the leaf dies. The pretty edging on the bottom was done using an edge punch. That window is so cool, the windows open, so the cat could slink out onto the flowers. LOL
When I should be sleeping I've been crafting. I pulled out this fun Mermaid image from Aurora Wings. I added shells, lace, ribbon, pearls, flowers, gems, glossy accents, stickles and fun DP. I colored the image using chalk.
Sometimes I love papers that already have the sentiment on them...like this one that says 'Dream'! So, I've mentioned on previous posts that I've been getting new dies in the mail that I've ordered from Wish.com. Fare warning, this site is extremely addicting!! This shoe is one of my new dies, as are the bow and the flower dies. I also added some wood butterflies, lace doilies and some pearls.
This week over at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog the challenge theme is 'Sparkle and Shine'. We have two fun sponsors Sasayaki Glitter and Melonheadz. This was made using the "Fairy Land set". The awesome thing about these sets is that you can create an entire scene with these. I added the flowers, lady bug, grass, frog, butterfly and fairy. For the glitter and sparkle part, I added some fun glittery paper, glittery tulle, glittery lace, and added some Stickles to the image.
